Over the last 15 years, Alyson has led a wide variety of nature adventures, inner journeys, classes, and circles celebrating the natural world. She recently completed three years as a head teacher in a Montessori upper elementary classroom, and she currently teaches and coordinates youth environmental education programs at Tucson Botanical Gardens.
As a student of the Dharma since 1994, Alyson also hosts meditation gatherings. Her great love is sharing the beauty and deep interconnectedness of wild nature and all beings. Her retreats and events are loving, playful, and transformative.
Alyson was first called to the sacred nature path at age seven, when she went to the high country of the Sierra Nevada Mountains for three weeks of sleep-away camp. She knew no one there, and it was in these mountains near Yosemite where she first experienced the bliss of solitude, while wandering among the majestic trees. That magical summer, Alyson also experienced her first shamanic journey – a guided meditation through all the colors of the rainbow!
As an adult, Alyson has spent countless hours in contemplation, reflection, connection, and ceremony in the wild. She has alsoattended numerous meditation retreats, workshops, classes and teachings, including Dharma retreats with Lama Tsultrim Allione at Tara Mandala retreat center in southern Colorado. In 2005, Alyson earned a Masters degree in Environmental Education (emphasis: creative arts in contemplative nature education) and is the author of Creating a Nature Journal: Art, Science, and Insight. In 2012, she completed ISA’s Shamanic Practitioner Training with Quynn Red Mountain.
Alyson is the director of Sacred Nature Retreats. She is also available for freelance writing and editing work.
